bookmaking in the great outdoors

I spent a beautiful but slightly comical day outside at Allegany State Park today teaching a simple book binding in the great outdoors. Unfortunately the park hadn’t been informed that there was an age limit on the class and so I had several very young children, who couldn’t really fold or tear their paper, and certainly couldn’t cut things with a sharp knife! But it all worked out OK although I didn’t really get to cover everything I had hoped to acheive, oh well… the sun was shining, and we all sat in the shade of some very big trees and I, at least, had a lot of fun. Plus I was being paid not to be in the office at a computer, so life it turns out is very good! Now I am pleasantly exhausted and enjoying some coffee in my sunny studio and loving my life!!
